On Friday afternoon, July 14, 2023, seven U.S. scholars CCG and sat down in a roundtable discussion.
Scott Kennedy, Senior Adviser and Trustee Chair in Chinese Business and Economics at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), was leading the U.S. scholars.
He was joined at CCG by
Jessica Chen Weiss, Professor for China and Asia-Pacific Studies at the Department of Government at Cornell University;
Susan Whiting, Professor of Political Science at the University of Washington in Seattle;
Meg Rithmire, F. Warren MacFarlan associate professor in the Business, Government, and International Economy Unit, Harvard Business School;
Matt Sheehan, Fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace;
Matt Barocas, Program Coordinator for the Trustee Chair in Chinese Business and Economics at CSIS;
Maya (Qin) Mei, Research Associate for the Trustee Chair in Chinese Business and Economics at CSIS.
The Chinese participants include Victor Gao and Mike Liu, CCG Vice Presidents; Roger Mengqi Wu, Veronica Hong Liu, and Zichen Wang, CCG Research Fellows; Zou Yue, formerly anchor for CGTN’s flagship talk show Dialogue and Head of Anchors Team of CCTV International. CCG staff members and interns observed the discussion.
They had a candid, in-depth, and constructive discussion on China-U.S. relations, people-to-people exchanges, better research conditions for scholars of the two countries, and related subjects in a friendly atmosphere.
According to the Institute of International and Strategic Studies, Peking University, twelve U.S. scholars visited the institute and had a discussion with Chinese experts on July 10 and 11, 2023.
