President of the US-China Business Council visits CCG
And had a conversation with CCG experts.
On March 28, 2023, Craig Allen, President of the US-China Business Council (USCBC), visited the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) together with Matt Margulies, Senior Vice President of USCBC China Operations, Ernie Thrasher, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Marketing Officer of Xcoal Energy & Resources, Lipei Zhang, Senior Director of USCBC Beijing Office, and Jason Zhou, Manager of Business Advisory Services at USCBC.
They met with WANG Huiyao, CCG Founder and President, Former Counselor to the State Council, and Vice Chairman of the MOFCOM China Association for International Economic Cooperation; JIN Xu, President of China Association of International Trade (CAIT); SUN Jie, CCG Senior Fellow and former Director of Fund Management at China Securities Regulatory Commission; Victor GAO, CCG Vice President; Ann TANG, CCG Deputy Secretary-General; and WU Mengqi, CCG Research Fellow.
During the visit, they discussed China’s economic development and, specifically, China’s application to join the CPTPP. Both sides expressed their respective opinions towards China-US economic and trade relations and the future of US businesses in China.
The US-China Business Council (USCBC) is a private, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization of over 280 American companies that do business with China. Founded in 1973, USCBC has provided information, advisory, advocacy, and program services to its members for over four decades. Before joining USCBC, Craig Allen had a long, distinguished career in US public service. He spent more than 30 years serving as a diplomat in Asia.
CCG has visited USCBC many times and maintained close contact with its President. Both sides follow China-US bilateral trade relationships, and they are committed to promoting communication between the two countries through people-to-people exchanges.
During CCG’s visit to the US in July 2022, the first by a Chinese think tank since the COVID-19 pandemic and before China exits “Zero-COVID,” the CCG delegation met with Craig Allen, where they engaged in a broad discussion on China-US relations, economics, trade, and US tariffs on Chinese exports.
