In Review: CCG's participation at Doha Forum in December
CCG spoke at various sessions partnered by CCG and other prominent think tanks. It now plans to be in Davos, Switzerland soon.
Henry Huiyao Wang and Mable Lu Miao of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) will be in Davos, Switzerland in the week of January 15 but before that here is a review of CCG’s four-member participation at the Doha Forum 2023, on December 10 - 11.
Two of the sessions are co-partnered between CCG and the European Policy Centre, and between CCG and the Middle East Institute, respectively.
Other sessions are organized by the Middle East Council on Global Affairs, U.S./Middle East Project, Wilson Center, Stimson Center, Global Institute for Strategic Research, National Cyber Security Agency of Qatar, etc.
Henry Huiyao Wang, Founder and President
In the panel titled "Palestine Has Become a Global Crisis - Does It Have a Global Solution?" co-partnered by the Middle East Council on Global Affairs and U.S./Middle East Project, he joined H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, Qatar's Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Amb. Husam Zomlot, Ambassador of the Palestinian Mission to the UK; Daniel Levy, President of the US / Middle East Project (USMEP); and Dr. Comfort Ero, President and CEO of the International Crisis Group. They engaged in a thorough discussion on potential solutions to the ongoing Palestine-Israel crisis. Moderating this session was Becky Anderson, Managing Editor and Anchor of CNN's Connect the World.
In "A Multilateral Dialogue on Regional Security and Diplomacy," co-partnered by CCG and the Middle East Institute, Henry exchanged perspectives with Dr. Justin Vaïsse, Founder and Director General of the Paris Peace Forum and former Director General of the Policy Planning Department of the French Foreign Ministry; Manisha Singh, Principal at Sunstone Strategy Group; Brian Katulis, Vice President of Policy at the Middle East Institute; Amb. Hesham Youssef, Senior Fellow at the United States Institute of Peace; and Paul Salem, President and CEO of the Middle East Institute, who served as the moderator. The discussion focused on diplomacy and conflict resolution in the MENA region.
His involvement concluded with the "Prospects for Peace in Ukraine" session, co-partnered by CCG and the European Policy Centre. In this session, Henry examined conflict mitigation strategies alongside H.E. Jacek Siewiera, Secretary of State and Head of the National Security Bureau of the Republic of Poland; Dr. Fabian Zuleeg, President and Chief Executive of the European Policy Center; Amb. Paula Dobriansky, Senior Fellow at Harvard University and Vice Chair of the Atlantic Council's Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security; and CNN Correspondent Melissa Bell, who served as the moderator.
Mabel Lu Miao, Co-founder and Secretary-General
She was invited to record a video for the "Rise of the Rest: Who should lead in a multipolar world?" and participated as a VIP member in the debate on December 9.
On the morning of December 11th, Mabel participated in a discussion co-organized by the Wilson Center titled "Towards a Multilayered World: Rethinking Alliances." This session, steered by Amb. Mark Green, the Wilson Center's President and CEO, fostered insightful exchanges among esteemed diplomats including H.E. Elmedin Konaković, Bosnia and Herzegovina's Minister of Foreign Affairs; H.E. Ville Skinnari, Finland's former Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade; and H.E. Tim Watts, Australia's Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In the afternoon, Mabel took part in a roundtable co-partnered by the Stimson Center, titled "Reinvigorating Peacebuilding: Optimizing Regional Solutions and Revitalizing Global Engagement." Here, she joined Dr. Richard Ponzio, Director of the Global Governance, Justice & Security Program and Senior Fellow at the Stimson Center; Michele Griffin, Director of the Our Common Agenda Team at the Executive Office of the Secretary-General of the United Nations; H.E. Later, she joined the "Closing Panel: Building Shared Futures," where she, alongside notable figures such as H.E. Miguel Ángel Moratinos, United Nations High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations; Bronwen Maddox, Director and CEO of Chatham House; and Dr. Omar Suleiman, Founder and President of the Yaqeen Institute, deliberated on the future and evolution of multilateral institutions. The panel benefited from the moderation of Ravi Agrawal, Editor-in-Chief of Foreign Policy.

On December 10, he joined the roundtable titled "Innovative Solutions for Governing AI & Emerging Cybertechnology," co-sponsored by the Doha Forum, Stimson Center, and the Global Institute for Strategic Research at Hamad Bin Khalifa University. Moderated by Brian Finlay, President and CEO of the Stimson Center, the panel brought together Dr. Mohammed bin Saif Al-Kuwari, Vice Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee in Qatar; Dana Al Abdulla, Director of National Cyber Governance and Assurance Affairs at Qatar's National Cyber Security Agency; Dr. David Passarelli, Director of the United Nations University Centre for Policy Research; Omid Raghimi, Head of Cyber Security Practice and Advisor at Palantir Technologies; Kate Kallot, Founder & CEO of Amini; Sachin Dev Duggal, Chief Wizard and Co-founder of Builder Ai; Muznah Siddiqui, Global Governance Research and Planning Associate at the United Nations University Center for Policy Research; Hafed Al Ghwell, Senior Fellow of the Foreign Policy Institute at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS); Nudhara Yusuf, Executive Coordinator of the Global Governance Innovation Network and Researcher with the Stimson Center; and Lana Khalaf, General Manager for Microsoft Qatar.
The following day, Mr. Liu took part in a session titled "Securing Data in an AI-Driven Era," co-hosted by the National Cyber Security Agency of Qatar. Moderated by Al Jazeera presenter Rawaa Augé, the discussion delved into critical considerations for AI applications, focusing on data privacy and ethical boundaries. Mr. Liu shared insights with fellow panelists, including H.E Abdulrahman Ali Al-Malki, President of the National Cyber Security Agency of Qatar; Amr Awadallah, CEO & Co-Founder of Vectara, Inc.; Nudhara Yusuf, Executive Coordinator of the Global Governance Innovation Network and Researcher with the Stimson Center; and Muznah Siddiqui, Global Governance Research and Planning Associate at the United Nations University Center for Policy Research.
Victor Gao, Vice President of CCG
He contributed to the panel "BRICS Rising Influence in a Multipolar International Order," sharing the stage with leaders such as H.E. M.U.M Ali Sabry, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka; H.E. Mesganu Arga Moach, State Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia; and H.E. Erika Mounyes, Chair of the Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center Advisory Council. The session, moderated by Gustau Alegret, NTN24's Journalist and Anchor, delved into the evolving role of BRICS nations within the changing dynamics of global governance and their influence in a multipolar world.
In a subsequent session titled "Energy Security and Economic Stability in Turbulent Times," Mr. Gao engaged in an in-depth dialogue with H.E. Alibek Kuantyrov, Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and H.E. Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, Former President of the Republic of Croatia. This discussion, moderated by CNN Correspondent Melissa Bell, focused on addressing the direct impacts of energy dependencies on national economies and explored strategies for ensuring reliable energy supplies while navigating economic uncertainties and regulatory compliance.
